This is a nice sampling of large Mookaite Jasper from Australia. The pieces measure approximately 1 3/4″ to 3+” in various shapes with lots of mustard yellow mixed with some red, cream, and purple color. This material is overall a good rock for the tumbler or use them as is for fountains and other decorative uses.
Mookaite is a colorful variety of jasper found in Western Australia’s Mooka River. Used as a decorative material and for its healing properties, most stones take on a high polish.
Mookaite is made up predominantly of the microscopic remains of minute aquatic organisms called radiolaria. The scientific name for mookaite is windalia radiolarite.
