This is a beautiful polished free form of Tiger Eye. This gorgeous specimen exhibits a nice array of gold flash colors mixed in with the Iron oxide as it is rotated in the light. It measures 4″ x 3 1/4″ x 1 3/4″ thick; weighs nearly 1 3/4 pounds and was highly polished on the front side. An excellent paperweight or conversation piece for your collection!

Tiger-eye is a member of the quartz family, a cryptocrystalline variety. It is one of the chatoyant varieties of gemstones. Due to the fibrous structure of the gemstone, as light reflects within the thin parallel fibrous bands it exhibits a changeable silky luster or chatoyancy. It occurs naturally in colors of gold and blue.
